Objective

Be the first player to empty your hand by forming valid melds (sets and runs), or have the lowest remaining hand value when the draw pile runs out. Three players, 52-card deck, 12 cards each.

Melds

A set is three or four cards of the same rank (e.g., three 7s). A run is three or more consecutive cards of the same suit. On your turn, draw from the pile, optionally lay down a meld or add to an existing one, then discard.

Winning

Call Tongits if you empty your hand completely — instant win. If the draw pile empties first, players compare the value of remaining hand cards. Lowest total wins. A Fight can be called by the leading player to force a showdown before the pile runs out.

Card Ranking

3 is lowest, 2 is highest. Suits rank from lowest: Clubs, Diamonds, Hearts, Spades. So the 2 of Spades is the highest single card in the game.

Five-Card Combos

Straight, Flush, Full House, Four of a Kind, Straight Flush. A stronger combo type always beats a weaker one — e.g., a Full House beats a Flush regardless of the card values involved.

Objective

Get a hand value closer to 21 than the dealer without going over. Number cards are face value, face cards (J, Q, K) are worth 10, and Aces are worth 1 or 11 — whichever is more helpful.

Basic Moves

Hit: draw another card. Stand: stop drawing. Double Down: double your bet and draw exactly one more card. Split: if you have a pair, split into two hands. Surrender: fold and recover half your bet on some variants.

Dealer Rules

The dealer hits on 16 or less and stands on 17 or more. Blackjack (an Ace and a 10-value card) pays 3:2 on KingLaro standard tables. Insurance is offered when the dealer shows an Ace.

Drawing Rules

If either hand totals 8 or 9 (a "natural"), both stand. If the Player hand totals 0–5, Player draws a third card. Banker drawing rules depend on both the Banker's total and the Player's third card — the game handles this automatically.

Player win pays 1:1. Banker win pays 1:1 minus a 5% commission (so 0.95:1). Tie pays 8:1. Banker bet has the lowest house edge of any KingLaro card game at around 1.06%.
